Revision of 2–3 pages — allowing both sides to assess the scope of work and working style.

What Is the Difference Between Editing and Proofreading?
Editing, stylistic editing, and proofreading all involve different levels of revision. A full edit provides comprehensive support for authors, including structural and content-related feedback. Proofreading is the final step, focusing on grammar, punctuation, and spelling in a finished text. Stylistic editing lies somewhere in between: in addition to proofreading, it also focuses on style and tone of voice, but does not cover structure, narrative flow, or character development.
Why Are There No Fixed Prices?
The amount of work required to edit a text always depends on its quality and complexity. That’s why I usually offer a sample edit for a small flat fee, which is deducted from the final price if the project goes ahead. This allows both sides to get a clear impression of the collaboration.
What Is a Standard Manuscript Page?
Editing fees are usually calculated based on standard manuscript pages. A standard page follows specific formatting guidelines to make it easier to estimate the length of a manuscript. One standard page consists of 30 lines with 60 characters each — a total of 1,800 characters including spaces. Since line breaks also need to be taken into account, I calculate prices using 1,500 characters per standard page.

Ein Lektorat unterstützt Autor:innen umfangreich, inklusive inhaltlicher und struktureller Überprüfung. Ein Korrektorat ist der Abschluss, dabei wird der fertige Text auf Grammatik, Zeichensetzung und Rechtschreibung überprüft. Ein stilistisches Lektorat ist der Mittelweg, dabei wird neben dem Korrektorat auch auf Stil und Tonalität geachtet, aber nicht auf Struktur, roten Faden und Charakterentwicklung.
