Your text will still sound like you after I’ve worked on it. I cut, smooth out and question phrasing, and bring in structure where it’s needed. I keep an eye on grammar and spelling as well as style, tone of voice and target audience – without making your text sound like someone else wrote it.
The difference between editing and proofreading
Proofreading, stylistic editing or full editing? The difference is how deeply I work on your text. With proofreading, I check the final text for grammar, spelling and punctuation. Stylistic editing also looks at language, style and tone of voice. With full editing, I go one step further and look at content and structure too – depending on the text, this might include structure, plot and logical character development.
Why don’t I have fixed rates?
How much work an edit requires depends very much on the text and how much editing it needs. Send me your text and I can estimate the amount of work involved. If you’d like to see how I work first, I also offer a sample edit of a few pages for a fixed fee. If you decide to work with me afterwards, I’ll deduct this amount from the final fee.
