What are SEO and GEO? How to get found online.
Just write some copy and voilà – potential customers come knocking? Unfortunately, it’s not quite that simple. To get found online, several things need to work together: structure, keywords, headlines and technical settings in the backend are just a few of them.

What does SEO mean?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s about structuring and preparing content so that search engines can understand and categorise it, and show it for relevant search queries.
This includes relevant keywords and search terms, a clear page structure and meaningful headings, internal links and metadata. Technical aspects of the website also play a role. And as the way we use the internet and search for information keeps changing, so do the requirements for SEO.

What does GEO mean?
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization. These days, we no longer search for information only through traditional search engines – we also ask ChatGPT, Gemini & Co. directly for answers. GEO is about preparing content so that AI systems can understand and categorise it and use it in their answers.
Can SEO and GEO work together?
SEO and GEO have a similar goal: content should show up where people are looking for it. The two can complement each other, and many of the criteria overlap anyway.
